Since CLARK has grown, I don’t get to go out on jobs much anymore, but back when I did – whether it was installing technology, fixing issues, or just doing maintenance – I’d routinely spend a little time with my clients, showing them little tips to make their jobs easier. With that said, even with those issues, Vista did have a lot of positives, many of which went on to be included in Windows 10. Between these problems and the existing love of the older OS, very few people saw any reason to switch. If you recall, Vista tried to replace the much-beloved operating system, Windows XP, and boy did it come with a lot of issues. I fell in love with its predecessor, the Snipping Tool, which came pre-installed in the very unpopular Windows Vista. It is a wonderfully simple tool for screen capturing that is very handy. Update: one additional step you might want to try, in case the service keeps crashing, is to delete the contents of the following folder (note: you will need elevated permissions to access the folder.Since October 2018, Windows 10 has included a great program called Snip & Sketch. ![]() ![]() This should sort out your issue and your screenshots should now open correctly. After that check that the Startup type: dropdown selection is set to Automatic. If you’re used to Snip & Sketch for adding some scribbles placed over desktop screenshots, you might have encountered this issue after pressing the notification error message “Failed to open the file”.Īlthough annoying, the solution for this issue is pretty straightforward: open your Services management console ( Win+R > services.msc or Win+X > Task Manager > Services tab > Open Services link in the bottom), scroll down until you find the Data Sharing Service.ĭouble click the service if its current status is Running, press the Stop button below followed by Start.
